British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program

B.C. Immigration Streams

You have three options for immigrating to British Columbia:

  • Skills Immigration Stream;
  • Express Entry British Columbia Stream;
  • Entrepreneur Immigration.

The Skills Immigration Stream is for skilled workers, healthcare professionals, and international graduates and post-graduates. Except for international post-graduates, all candidates need a job offer or a current job.

Skilled workers, healthcare professionals, international graduates, and post-grads can use Express Entry BC.

Skills Immigration

BC PNP Skills Immigration categories are:

Skilled Worker Category

This category is for skilled job applicants. Skilled workers should have years of experience.

Healthcare Professional Category

Physicians, nurses, psychiatric nurses, and allied health professionals with job offers may apply. One of 11 health occupations must be offered a job.

International Graduate Category

This category is for recent Canadian graduates. This subcategory requires a BC job offer.

International Post-Graduate Category

This category is for natural, applied, or health sciences graduates from British Columbia. This subcategory requires no job offer.

Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Worker Category

Certain entry-level or semi-skilled workers in tourism/hospitality, food processing, or long-haul trucking, or those living and working in the Northeast Development Region of British Columbia, may be eligible for immigration.

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have a TEER 4 or 5 job offer (except for the International Post-Graduate Category);
  • Must have a provincial wage offer (except for International Post-Graduate Category);
  • Must be able to support yourself and your family (except for International Post-Graduate);
  • Must meet language requirements (TEER 2, 3, 4, or 5 (CLB level 4 in all competencies) for entry-level and semi-skilled workers);
  • Meet category-specific requirements;
  • The employer must also qualify (except for the International Post-Graduate Category).

Express Entry British Columbia

Express Entry BC aligns with the federal government’s immigration selection system, allowing eligible applicants to receive priority processing of their BC PNP application and, if nominated, their permanent residence application.

Express Entry BC processes the following Skills Immigration categories:

  • Skilled Worker Category
  • Health Care Professional Category
  • International Graduate Category
  • International Post-Graduate Category

Basic Requirements:

  • Valid Express Entry profile;
  • Express Entry Job Seeker Validation Code;
  • Full-time offer accepted (except for the International Post-Graduate Category)
  • Must offer wages in line with B.C. rates (except for International Post-Graduate Category);
  • Must be able to support yourself and your family (except international post-grads);
  • Must meet language requirements (except for International Post-Graduate);
  • Category-specific requirements;
  • The employer must be qualified (except for the International Post-Graduate Category).

Entrepreneur Immigration 

As an entrepreneur, you have three options for immigrating to British Columbia:

Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot 

This pilot is for international entrepreneurs looking to start a business in a small BC community.

Strategic Projects Category

Foreign-controlled companies can operate in BC under this category. Up to five foreign managers, professionals, or technicians can be nominated for permanent residency.

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program

B.C. PNP Tech

British Columbia holds Tech draws to nominate skilled workers..

The pilot programme began in 2017 to address the province’s tech labour shortage. It became permanent in June 2021.

This programme is for skilled workers in one of 29 eligible occupations in B.C. The job offer must be one year long and have 120 days left when applying.
