Nova Scotia Nominee Program

Nova Scotia Nominee Program

Nova Scotia is a small Maritimes province in Canada.

Nova Scotia has the peninsula, Cape Breton Island, and 3,000 smaller islands. Halifax, the capital, is known for its high standard of living and culture. Nova Scotia is known for its coastal beauty and delicious food.

NSNP is Nova Scotia’s PNP. Through this programme, immigrants with the desired skills and experience can obtain a Nova Scotia Provincial Nomination Certificate.

Overview

NSNP began in 2003. It was created to help the province’s economy and labour market through immigration.

Due to the NSNP and the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP), immigration to Nova Scotia has tripled in the last 20 years.

Nova Scotia welcomes over 7,000 immigrants annually.

Provincial retention is over 70%. The Nova Scotia PNP and the AIP are working to match newcomers with jobs. Both the PNP and AIP help international graduates and temporary workers obtain permanent residency.

Immigration to Nova Scotia: PNP Streams

The province has enhanced and base streams.

Enhanced Streams

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry
• Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities
• Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities for Physicians

Enhanced Streams: Enhanced means the sub-category is Express Entry compatible. The federal government uses Express Entry to manage permanent residence applications for Canada’s economic class programs.

Base streams: dominate Nova Scotia’s immigration. They’re not compatible with Express Entry. Candidates nominated by a province must apply directly to IRC (IRCC).

Comprehensive Ranking System scores Express Entry candidates (CRS). Canada holds Express Entry draws to invite top-ranked applicants to apply for permanent residency.

If you get a provincial nomination, you get 600 CRS points, practically guaranteeing an ITA for permanent residence. Express Entry nominates you.
