Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program

When considering where immigrants to Canada might settle, Ontario is typically where most people’s journeys begin.
Nearly 40% of Canadians call Ontario home. Ontario has Canada’s capital, Ottawa, and largest city, Toronto. Ontario is the top Canadian immigrant destination.

Each year, one-third of newcomers settle in British Columbia. Ontario’s job opportunities, high income, and diverse population drew people. Over half of Toronto residents are foreign-born.

Through this program, prospective immigrants with the skills and experience targeted by Ontario can receive a provincial nomination and apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Ontario’s PNP – Overview

The OINP aims to address skill shortages, encourage investment in Ontario, and help newcomers settle and integrate.
Initially, the Ontario PNP could only nominate 1,000 newcomers. Ontario nominates 8,000 immigrants annually.
Ontario has base and enhanced immigration streams.

Enhanced streams are Express Entry-aligned. This is Canada’s federal immigration system for managing permanent residence applications through its three economic class programs.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores candidates. Candidates with the highest ranking can apply for permanent residency.
