Yukon Nominee Program

Yukon Nominee Program

Let’s start with a bit of information about Yukon

Yukon, a territory in Canada’s extreme northwest, has a legendary reputation. Yukon, perhaps best known for the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 1890s, is home to approximately 30,000 people, the majority of whom live in the capital city of Whitehorse. Its economy is primarily based on mining and tourism. Consider moving to the territory if you value strong communities and the great outdoors.

People who want to move to Yukon and have the right skills and experience may be able to get a provincial nomination through the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP), which is also called the Yukon Provincial Nominee Program.

Yukon PNP – An Overview

Since its start in 2002, the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) has been actively taking nominations.

The YNP is used by Yukon to get as many immigrants as possible to move to the territory so that the labour market needs of the territory can be met.

The YNP is aimed at skilled workers and business owners who have the necessary education and experience to prosper in the Yukon.

Every year, a few hundred immigrants arrive in Yukon. This, however, accounts for nearly 1% of the population. The territory’s population recently surpassed 40,000 for the first time.

Yukon has one expedited route called Yukon Express Entry. The remainder of the categories is basic.

This means Yukon Express Entry is compatible with Canada’s Express Entry system. In contrast, a base category is one that is not compatible with the Express Entry system.

The Express Entry system is used by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canada’s immigration department, to manage the main economic immigration programs.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) will give you a point score if you have an Express Entry profile.
Canada holds Express Entry draws often, and the best candidates are invited to apply for permanent residency.

If a provincial program nominates you after you’ve applied, you’ll get 600 more CRS points.

This means that an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence will be sent to you in the next draw.
You will also receive your nomination through your Express Entry profile. You must accept this nomination to receive the bonus points.

The main benefit of fast immigration is that it usually takes less than six months to get things done. The processing time for base streams may be longer than 12 months.

The majority of PNP immigration streams are base streams that are not linked to Express Entry.

If you are chosen through a base immigration stream, you must apply directly to IRCC.

Yukon Immigration Categories

Here are your five options for Yukon PNP.

  1. Yukon Express Entry (YEE)
  2. Skilled Worker
  3. Critical Impact Worker
  4. Business Nominee
  5. Yukon Community Pilot.

The Yukon Express Entry (YEE) program is designed for foreign skilled workers with a valid job offer for permanent, full-time employment in Yukon. Employers in the territory who can’t find Canadian citizens or permanent residents to fill open jobs can choose from the candidates in the Express Entry pool.

The Skilled Worker Program is for foreign skilled workers who are sponsored for Canadian permanent residence by a Yukon employer. You must be employed in a job with a National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level of 0, A, or B.
The Critical Impact Worker Program is for semi-skilled or unskilled workers who work in a high-demand occupation in the territory and are sponsored by an employer. As a result, you must have a valid job offer from a Yukon employer. You do not, however, have to be in Yukon to apply.

The Business Nominee Program is designed for individuals with demonstrated business experience who want to start a new business, partner with an existing business, or purchase and operate an existing business in Yukon. You should be prepared to make a substantial investment in your Yukon-based company.

People who have already been chosen can get a special type of work permit that lets them work for more than one employer in one of the Yukon communities that are taking part in the program. The pilot project will run from January 2020 to June 2023.
